I have never seen my father besides a photo so when it comes to my father I always have this image of him that’s never finished. I only seen one picture of him and that’s when he was 17 and in this picture he has this certain posture and candid position he’s standing in. I haven’t seen the photo in so long that I never can remember his face clearly, like an out of focused camera, I see him but it’s blurred. So I take all these stories about his appearance from my family to my moms and start to create his face. Every time I put it together I never like what I’m picturing in my mind so I throw it away like a artist with creative block. Then I always end up starting over. I guess the moral of this story is maybe my picture will be painted perfect the day I see him.

Everytime I view this photo it just gives me a peace of mind with it. I still remember shooting it like it was yesterday. This artist was in this corner of the park, as if it was reserved for him. When I was viewing him while he was working, he gave me the feel of a person who wasn’t there with the rest of us in the park. It felt like he created his own place, his own space. And in that space, it was tranquility that fueled his art.

The day before the 4th of July I decided to go to Hoboken. When I got there I just fell in love. The environment, people, and view engulfed me the whole time I was there. Here is a preview to the series.

“An Artist’s Passion”
I met this one lady while I was walking along side the harbor. I asked her could I shoot her while she worked, and she said yes. While I was shooting her, we had a conversation about not letting life take something you love to do away from you. That people should try there best to keep that side of them as long as possible because that’s what can help life be a little easier to live. The experience I got from this five minute conversation got me a little bit closer to photography.
