Compared to King this guy’s a monk!

Well it’s your birthday Malcolm, I just wish you were here to know that. I just want to thank you for all you have sacrificed, provided, and worked hard for to make the African American race have a better future. Sometimes I just wish people would recognize your accomplishments for more then just a day. Your lifetime work can only be measured by the man your shaking hands with in this picture. So to your day I wish you a happy birthday and thank you for all you have done. Because of you the we’re that much closer to being the best we can be.

Malcolm X

Charles “Teenie” Harris contribution to the world of photography has impacted the world. Charles purchased his first camera in the early 1930’s and began to freelance for the Washington D.C. newspaper Flash. Teenie was also known as “One Shot” because he rarely made his subjects sit for retakes. His series of African American life in Pittsburg from 1936 to 1975┬áis some of his greatest work. When I viewed this series it had me feel like I was right behind him in every shot. I would have to say he is one of the greats of photography and my appreciation for that has added more to my own photography.

Thank You Charles “Teenie” Harris
