Charles “Teenie” Harris contribution to the world of photography has impacted the world. Charles purchased his first camera in the early 1930’s and began to freelance for the Washington D.C. newspaper Flash. Teenie was also known as “One Shot” because he rarely made his subjects sit for retakes. His series of African American life in Pittsburg from 1936 to 1975 is some of his greatest work. When I viewed this series it had me feel like I was right behind him in every shot. I would have to say he is one of the greats of photography and my appreciation for that has added more to my own photography.
