R.I.P Good TV: Duck Tales

I still can remember the bell ringing ending the grammar school day. The doors open and all the kids, including myself, running full speed as if we all just witnessed our favorite team winning the championship game. We would always soak in every ounce of after school fun, all within a fifteen minute radius. When we were done we would click up and walk home together, each one of us, one by one, leaving the group as we passed our homes along the way. When I got to mines I would say bye to my friends and dash up my building stairs hoping that I made it just in time to catch my cartoon line-up. Yes, right on time, Duck Tales just started. I would toss my book bag on my living room couch like an olympic athlete throwing a discus. I would sit on the floor in front of my couch as if this got me more closer to my favorite cartoon. All my house could hear is me reciting the Duck Tales theme song, word for word, like I was actually in the cartoon. My mother would always come out as soon as the cartoon theme song was ending, saying, “Boy what I tell you about getting that close to the TV, sit your butt on the couch.” I would slide up the couch in such a motion that it wouldn’t compromise my TV focus. The lasting feeling that cartoons such as this one gave me is still with me today. It slowly embedded a joyous feeling that I hope I can help kids and/or my future kids have someday. Something that can have them feel a genuine goodness that would make them want to make this world rotate better then it did yesterday. And if I can accomplish this, my level of satisfaction is because of moments that shows like Duck Tales created. So I would like to pay my respects to Duck Tales and thank the makers of this cartoon. Thank you for great moments you all help create for me and others.
